My Baby is 6!

I can't believe that my little man is now 6 years old. It just seems like yesterday that I went into hospital to push him into this world.

20 things I love about Cullen:

1. He's so sweet, he should be served on ice cream.

2. He's very caring especially when someone gets hurt or is sad.

3. He says the funniest things out of the blue.

4. He has unruly hair which is wavy and there is a lot of it.

5. He gives genuine, heartfelt hugs that I feel throughout the day.

6. He always tells me he loves me.

7. He has the cutest butt.

8. Whenever he eats, he rests his head on his left hand.

9. He can squeeze the top part of his ear into his ear hole & it stays there.

10. He says "ek het jou ook lief" when I tell him I love him in Afrikaans.

11. He loves to draw and color.

12. He wraps his arm around mine when we watch movies together.

13. He loves chocolate (just like I do)

14. He loves nature & wants to hike and swim regardless of the weather.

15. He makes friends easily.

16. His cheeks wobble when he runs.

17. He does gymnastics on the soccer field instead of playing soccer.

18. He has big, dark brown eyes.

19. He wakes up in the morning happy and ready to go.

20. He's all mine and I don't have to share him with anyone!

Cullen had his birthday party tonight. He has been asking for a year to go to Chuck E. Cheese (amusement place) for his birthday party and I HATE the place. Its noisy, full of kids, has bad pizza and its expensive. But with all the nagging, reminding and begging, we gave in and took him there.

He invited 11 of his friends to his party and he had a good time.

He's so proud to be 6. I'm so proud of my little 6-year old. I told him he isn't allowed to get married and he has to live with me for the rest of his life (this applies to Jordan too). He told me that its his plan to do so. He's a gem - one of a kind - and I am so thankful to God for blessing me with such a wonderful, handsome little boy.

Masks

Although the kids are on summer break, I still have to work at the church.

I usually go from 9 am-2 pm, Mon-Thurs to work in my 20 hours and have Friday off to run errands, etc. During the summer the boys will come with me to the church while I work and I will keep them busy with games, puzzles, worksheets, etc. The worksheets will also help retain all they've learnt at school this past year. After all, summer break is 11 weeks long.

For those who are fretting about them being at the church and having to do worksheets, I do plan to have a lot of fun with the boys too - we'll go to the zoo, the community pool, hike, bike ride, movies, etc. so they will have a proper summer break.

An example of a fun day is this. My friend Naomi (aka Real Artist who I went to Dr. Sketchy's with) very kindly offered to watch my kids for a morning this week while I worked. It turned out to be a 2-day visit for my kids. On the first day they made paper mache masks but the masks didn't dry in time so she had them again the next day to finish them up.

On the second day, I planned to fetch the boys from Naomi, go home and take a nap while the boys watched Batman on DVD but Naomi convinced me to stay and decorate a mask (she had spares) and I am glad I did. It was a lot of fun and very therapeutic.

So for the next hour we sat at her table and painted and decorated a mask each and they turned out really well. I had to steal the photos from her blog because she didn't send them to me (and I forgot to ask her to send them) so yes, I am thieving from her once again.
