One Step Closer

We're one step closer to getting this thing finished. Warren built the deck base from scratch after the old joists rotted and fell apart. He replaced the joists with treated wood so that they will last longer.

Today Warren, Cullen & I painted the joists with a paint-based stain in the same color as the Trex that will be arriving next week. Cullen had his own little area to paint and dropped his paint bowl twice so we'll have 2 patches on the lawn that will be dead soon. My back aches from bending over for 3 hours!!

Can't wait for this beast to be finished. Then we'll start on the next project!! (Will it ever end???)

Another One Bites the Dust

We had great excitement tonight because Jordan's 2nd top tooth came out. Its been kind of wiggly for about a year but very wiggly for a week. He's been working at getting it looser every day this past week.

It gives me the heebie jeebies whenever Jordan pushes his tongue against a tooth to make it horizontal to his gums but I kept encouraging him to do it tonight because the more he did it, the looser it got. He tried a couple of times to yank it out but each time he stopped because he said that it hurt. But he finally did it and out it came.

Jordan asked me the other day if the Tooth Fairy really exists and asked me to tell him the truth, so I did. He was disappointed when he realized that I was the one putting the money under his pillow but has accepted it. (He also asked me if Santa is real and to tell him the truth and my answer is always "well, I believe in him because he fills my stocking every year and I certainly don't do it" and he accepted that).

So even though Jordan knows that I am really Timney the Tooth Fairy, he's put his toilet paper wrapped tooth under his pillow knowing that he'll get some money in the morning.

For Cullen's sake he is pretending that Timney really exists.

My favorite thing for Jordan to say now that he's missing the 2 top teeth is a line from a poem: "Freedom isn't free" because it sounds like he's saying "Fweedom isn't fwee" and I love it.

Friday Nite Date Nite

I've always wanted to learn to dance - the proper way - with lessons. Trying to convince Warren to be my dance partner has not been easy so in order to force him to be my partner, I purchased a gift certificate from a dance studio in Littleton and gave it to Warren and I 'from Santa' last Christmas. The gift certificate is for 2 half hour private lessons and 1 group lesson. With 3 months before the gift certificate expires, I decided we'd better make an appointment for our lesson and so we went to our first one on Friday night.

With the kids tucked away at a friend's house, we made our way to the dance studio, Adventures in Dance. Warren seemed a bit nervous and we had no idea what to expect.

Our dance teacher was Craig. He asked us what we want to achieve from lessons and we basically said we'd like to feel more confident and free on the dance floor. We'd also like to show off a bit with a few good moves at venues like weddings or Christmas parties.

We learnt the basic steps for the fox trot, swing and quickstep. Craig demonstrated a few times for us and we saw how flexible he is especially in the hip area and so he has earned the name Swivel Hips (not to his face of course).

If I hadn't know that he is married to the owner of Adventures in Dance, I would have said that Craig favors the other side of the fence.

After our lesson I asked Warren what he thought and his exact words were "It was fun. I don't mind spending money on that." Yippee! So once our gift certificate has been exhausted, we will be going back for more lessons and fun.
