Happy 42 to ME!

Today I turned the ripe old age of 42 and I don't look a day over 50. I'm aging well!

This morning I woke up too early and Warren signaled for me to pretend to sleep while the boys busied themselves downstairs, getting their card and gift ready for me to open. They all traipsed back upstairs and chorused 'Happy Birthday!' at my bedside. I had coffee, a Toblerone and flowers thrust at me and a large gift bag was the last thing to land in my lap.

I gingerly opened it (never sure if they'd pick something I like) and found a lightweight jacket that Warren and the boys had chosen from Target...and it is very cute. Once we were all showered and changed, the boys had eaten and their backpacks were packed, Warren & I dropped them at school.

Then he and I went to breakfast at a place called Toast which serves breakfast and lunch. I had my usual Eggs Benedict while Warren had a massive breakfast burrito. As usual, we planned what we're going to do next to the house (once we remortgage) to get it fixed up since we're 10 years behind our maintenance projects! We are excellent planners...doers? Not so much!

We went home to meet our insurance agent and the roofing inspector. Our neighborhood was slammed with hail in the spring and most of our neighbors had their roofs replaced but once again we were turned down by our agent because we have an 'outstanding roof for its age'. Bummer!

We went to see The American at the movie theater...

...and then went to Starbucks to do more planning (we are great at planning) before going to get the boys from school.

After the boys' chiropractor appointment, we stopped by Maggie Moo's for ice cream (my thighs are not happy with me right now) and then we dropped Cullen at his gymnastics lesson. After taking Jordan to his soccer practice, Warren & I made our way back to get Cullen who had sat out most of the lesson because he felt he was going throw up (probably due to the ice cream). Jordan had a great time at his practice.

We went to Pasquini's for dinner because they were having a fundraising event for a cure for cancer. I'm friends with a mom (Marie) whose son was in Cullen's Kindergarten class and she has a 3 yr old who had a tumor on his brain (successfully removed).

She is part of a foundation that raises money for the pediatric neurology department at Children's Hospital in Denver. Pasquini's donated 20% of all the food bills tonight to this foundation and we saw many kids and parents from the school who were there to support the foundation. Marie found out that it was my birthday and bought me chocolate mousse for dessert which was TO DIE FOR!

The boys were so upset that we didn't have the chocolate cake I'd bought for after dinner but by the time we got home, we were all so stuffed from the pizza and chocolate mousse (we all shared it) AND it was past their bedtime with school only a few hours away.

It was a good day but tomorrow I hit the ground running to play 'catch-up' with all the things I needed to get done today but ignored because of my birthday.
