Since we don't like the whole Halloween holiday, we have always enjoyed an alternative to 'trick-or-treating'. Many churches have adopted this holiday as an outreach event, inviting kids from the neighborhood to enjoy a free and safe evening of games, food and of course, candy.
This is our second year at Calvary Chapel and we enjoyed last year's Fall Festival. We donated our bag of candy before entering the church building and the boys set to work on the games.
The boys originally wanted to dress up as a werewolf but where the heck can you get a costume for that and I certainly wasn't going to make one.
Jordan went as Captain Jack Sparrow and Cullen went as a ninja. This year the costumes didn't cost me a thing because the boys made do with the clothing and accessories they already had (plus Jordan wore my boots, jewelry and belt!)
The kids had a great time and it was so well done by the church. They had gospel messages running on the big screens in the auditorium and people were giving out tracts of the gospel message. It was a great alternative to the usual Halloween tradition.
