Jordan turned 8 today and we were woken before the sun came up with little toes scraping against our legs and little whispers from an excited boy who wanted to open his presents.
He was very patient as Warren and I chose to ignore him for another 15 min so we could sleep a bit longer but then we all got up to start the birthday celebrations.
Jordan is crazy for Lego and so he got a lot of Lego for his birthday. We offered him a choice between a birthday party or the money we would have spent on a birthday party and he chose the money. So he picked out the Lego he wanted from the website and Warren bought it for him one night last week, afraid that it would disappear off the shelves before Jordan's birthday. (It seems everyone is getting ready for Christmas already).
For our children a birthday isn't a birthday unless there is cake. In fact Jordan was mortified that Warren hadn't bought me a small birthday cake for my birthday last month.
Jordan wanted a Lego cake in the form of a Star Wars battle ship but in the end we compromised and he had a Lego block cake. Warren is in charge of decorating the kids' birthday cakes because he loves to do that but I think his imagination was put to the test with this cake.
Jordan loved it and that's all the counts...
We suggested to Jordan that we could invite a few people to have cake with us at the park and he listed the people he wanted and so we had cake at the park in the afternoon with his friends.
Cullen did too...
Not sure if Miss Roxanne did...
Her brother liked it...
As did Bayleigh Beetle Blythe...
And her sister Genevieve Soccer Girl...
And of course...Kristen loved it.
The best slice of all...named and claimed.
For Warren and I, it was to spend time with the kids' parents who we don't get to hang out with that much anymore.

Miss Juli...

...and boer hubby Gerhard...
crazy Stacey...
and quiet hubby Ralph (except when it comes to burping and farting!)
and then there are the crazies who live down the road from us...

and then there's us (the perfectly sane ones of course!)
The afternoon was cool and we all ended up with sweaters on by the end of our time there.

Cullen slipped and fell into the pond and so he and I went home quickly so he could change because the water was very cold and he was very uncomfortable. Horrible mother that I am - instead of helping my child when he fell - I ran around with a camera getting shots of him crying. See what blogging has done to me!?!?!?
