Today we trudged around a few stores looking for new shoes for the kids for school. Jordan now loves the basketball type looking shoes that Justin Bieber (a new singer on the block) wears and Cullen favors the skateboarder look. For some reason we ended up with the same colored shoes but they'll go well with most things I guess.
We went to Westlands Park after shopping and I realize that my boys are not really interested in parks unless they have some sort of interesting structure, new climbing activity or a wooded area close by. I guess that means they are growing up and moving away from 'small kid' stuff. I saw Cullen on the verge of this when we were choosing shoes. He's into Toy Story 3 now since seeing the movie and has a lot of the toys from the Toy Story 1 which were tucked away in a box in his cupboard and have recently come out to play. When Cullen saw the Toy Story 3 shoes at the store, he got really excited but suddenly realized that although he liked the shoes, it would appear 'baby' to choose them. (I'm thankful because I've never liked shoes with characters on them). That incident was a reminder to me that my 'baby', who currently plays in both small kid and big kid worlds, is on the brink of crossing over into the big kid world forever.
