We were close to the Idaho border so one day we crossed into Idaho - the state known for its production of potatoes. Every small town we came across looked like it had a population of about 3 people and eventually we found a town that was big enough to have a drive-thru coffee place (which was actually a house turned into a restaurant with a window acting as the drive-thru window). The service was lousy but it was the only coffee we'd been able to find in the area.
We drove around the lake and stopped for a while. It was freezing outside but the views were spectacular and the boys loved playing in the sand and water, collecting shells and sticks to bring back to Colorado with us.

The next day we left to return to Colorado and drove through bad weather in Wyoming and I was relieved to get back to our beautiful state.

On our way back to Colorado.
