Last summer we had our 1st Summer Breakfast Hike and it was a great success so we decided we need to continue doing the breakfast hikes this summer. The hike is a 20 min drive from our house in the Roxborough State Park which is approximately 3,400 acres and is anchored by an intriguing series of rock formations.

I was worried after seeing the signs posted about the wildlife in the area. This didn't bother the boys who were hoping for a sighting of anything wild and dangerous.
We went along the South Rim Trail which is a 2.7 mile loop heading up a ridge (great views) before descending to open ground, taking us back to the parking lot. There were many wild flowers along the way which Cullen was so tempted to pick for me.

Cullen was amazed by every bench we came across along the pathway and kept saying "oh look, another one!" as if he was seeing something special each time he came across one. We stopped for our egg/mayo breakfast sandwiches in the shade.

After the hike we headed to the ranger's station and found out that we missed seeing a black bear by 1 day and a rattlesnake by a few hours. Thanks goodness!! They had some animals on the walls which were found/shot in the area so I was glad we missed seeing anything 'wild and dangerous' that day.
