For Kids' Club at the church tonight, the theme was drive-in movies and the kids were asked to make cardboard boxes for the evening's event. I pictured a square box with a bit of decor on the sides but now we're talking about Warren making the cars, and not me!
Warren brought boxes home from Kong and spent 3 nights from 7 pm until midnight cutting, gluing, taping and finally wrapping these cars in color paper which I thought was ingenious since I had painting in mind. I helped make the wheels and steering wheels and connected them to the cars. I also cut out pedometers and glued one to each dashboard. Once the cars were ready, the boys detailed them: Optimus Prime for Jordan and Bumble Bee for Cullen.
To get the cars to the church we had to take the 3rd row out of the minivan. The other kids at church had the 'square box with a bit of decor on the sides' and they really liked Jordan & Cullen's cars. The boys sat in their cars while watching the movie "UP" and ate popcorn and chocolate, some of which is now stuck inside the car.
Needless to say, the car bodies held up under all the movement to and from the church but the steering wheel on Cullen's car and 1/2 of the wheels have started to come off (my bad). I had warned Warren that his lovely cars would decrease in value once I added my bit to them so in the next couple of days he'll fix all that needs to be fixed and the cars will be lovely!!
